For Miró and Firó to have become a perfect rhyme, historical events had to occur that do not usually come to light until the essential has already happened. Behind the scenes of time, history dances. In 2008, Pere Serra and Óscar Pipkin hatched a plan that, on the face of it, seemed impossible: to sail boats with sails painted by Joan Miró across the seas of the Port of Sóller. By speaking with friends at the Successió Miró, this little madness became possible. On 11 May 2008, the llaüts, dressed in their finery, set sail, adorned with the eternal Miró symbols. On the white sails, where there had once been moons and crosses, the stars and strokes of the genius adorned the waters of the Port of Sóller. The crowd, stunned, abandoned the mock fights and staged violence to gaze upon the sea, transformed into a masterpiece.
18 years later, with the Firó of 2026 complete, we look back once more to remember a historic milestone that had the support of the people, the Train of Sóller , with Òscar Mayol and Vicenç Sastre as its foremost representatives, and the masterful hand of Pepe Pardo and Maria del Mar Moranta who restored the sails, leaving them in perfect condition. In the end, when you have the right friends and join forces for a common cause, madness becomes a reality for everyone to enjoy.
