We suggest three complementary ways of exploring Can Prunera, the collection it houses and its surroundings: a guided tour, a walk and an art workshop. These three options can be combined in four different ways to create a tour tailored to the characteristics and interests of each group.

A HOUSE IS A HOUSE… IS IT A HOUSE?
What is a Modernist house doing in a remote village nestled amongst the mountains, on an island in the middle of the Mediterranean? With this question, we begin our exploration of Can Prunera and the history of Sóller.
Built in 1911 by a family of emigrants who decided to return to the valley, Can Prunera preserves the memory of a time of great transformation… Shipping companies, railways, factories and cinemas had connected Sóller with Europe and were beginning to transform its streets, its people and its architecture. Can Prunera was both a witness to and an example of this quiet revolution that took place in the valley over a century ago: the stained-glass windows, the hydraulic tiles, the woodwork and the furniture will allow us to discover how Modernism took shape in the everyday life of a village and a family.
Today, no one sleeps at Can Prunera any more, but its rooms remain inhabited by names and images: the original architecture and furnishings coexist with a collection of modern and contemporary art. Cézanne, Toulouse-Lautrec, Diego Rivera and Fernand Léger share the space with artists who are key to understanding the art of the last century in the Balearic Islands, from the early 20th-century landscape painters to Juli Ramis and Miquel Barceló.
This programme will bring us closer to the stories that converge at Can Prunera: that of a house and that of a collection; that of a family and that of a village.

A tour of the Modernist house, the history of Sóller and a general introduction to the collection.

1 hour 30 minutes · €7 per pupilThe experience takes you through the streets of Sóller to discover some of the traces of Modernism and gain an understanding of the transformation the town underwent between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

1 hour 30 minutes · €7 per pupilThe tour of the house is rounded off with an art-based experience exploring Modernism and its aim to bring together architecture, craftsmanship and the visual arts.

This comprehensive programme combines a tour of Can Prunera, an exploration of the urban environment and artistic experimentation.
All the programmes are aimed at pre-school, primary, secondary and sixth-form education. The content and activities will be tailored to the age and characteristics of the group.
Capacity: a maximum of 25 participants per group, with no minimum.
